Swimming

The goal of competitive swimming is to reach the designated distance in the fastest amount of time in the water. This can happen both in pools or in the open ocean. There are four different strokes in swimming, which is butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle.

Basketball

This is a team sport where two opposing teams compete for more points scored. You can score points by putting the ball inside the hoop, however, you want. You can shoot, do a lay-up, or even dunk the ball. Shooting the ball outside of the three-point line rewards 3 points. Inside is 2 points. You get 1 point for every free throw, which is rewarded when fouled.

Baseball

This is a bat and ball sport between two teams who take turns batting and pitching the ball. The objective of the offensive team is to hit the ball into the field of play and to run the bases. The objective of the defensive team is to prevent batters from becoming runners and to prevent runners' advance around the bases.

Volleyball

Two teams of six players are seperated by a net. Each team tries to score a point by grounding a ball on the other team’s court, while following the basic rules such as fouls or the boundary line.

Cross Country

This is a sport in which teams and/or individuals run a race on open courses or tracks. Runners are judged on individual times and teams by a points-scoring method.

Soccer

Two teams of 11 players compete in a grass field of area. You can score a point by putting the ball into the opposing teams’ goal. There are different positions to help get a point or prevent the other team from getting one. Some examples of these positions include midfielder, striker, defender and goalie.
